![]() ![]() Cryptic is one of the most versatile cards out there, but it does cost 4 mana, and that's a hefty cost. I can't help but feel that this card might be of more use as either another coloured land or a Darksteel Citadel instead.Ĭryptic Command - Modern is a fast format right now, and Remand is king. Inkmoth Nexus - Shouta Yasooka's list uses Inkmoth to great effect in sometimes chancing an infect kill, but my deck doesn't run the four of Tezzeret, AoB that his does, and is definitely not as midrangey as his either. Shadow of Doubt is strong when it works, but Izzet Charm is useful in more situations. The fact that it also sometimes catches a fetch or helps fend off a Scapeshift is nice, but I can't help but feel that Izzet Charm might have a place here. Shadow of Doubt - I threw this in here because velocity is important to me, and I want to make sure that I can cantrip through my deck and find the cards that I need. It confirmed for me that this deck is an actual possibility! Geist is stopped cold by Pyroclasm, Snapcaster and Restoration Angel neutered by Torpor Orb, Pithing Needle took out Celestial Colonnade, and Ensnaring Bridge made sure that his Thundermaw could never get through. I played a few games today against Jeskai Flash right after building this deck, and I absolutely wrecked him. In a perfect world I would have 4 Scalding Tarns instead of the Bloodstained Mires I have going on so far, but other than that this deck is where I want to be. The only card availability issues here are the fetches. ![]() Chaining a Thirst into a Dig after discarding two lands feels like the best thing in the world. ![]() Keranos is also a win condition that can be relied upon when your opponents decide to hate on your artifacts.Īnother thing I wanted to point out is the synergy between Thirst For Knowledge and Dig Through Time. Slaughter Games also helps in the sideboard to hate on Scapeshift and other combo decks that attack from angles your artifacts are much less likely to stop. The reason I chose to go Grixis instead of pure UB is because of the power of Pyroclasm in this format of smaller creatures and Delver. The sideboard has a few more cards to defeating combo, which this deck is theoretically worse against - especially Scapeshift. The idea behind this deck is to have a deck that can mainboard hate, seeking to win game 1 through disrupting the opponent's gameplan, controlling the board, and then winning with either Tezzeret beats, Agent of Bolas drains, or Ashiok. Been playing Splinter Twin recently, and I felt like brewing something up, so I took some inspiration from Blue Moon decks playing Vedalken Shackles and Shouta Yasooka's latest modern Tezzerator to create this monstrosity. This is what I'm taking to Modern tomorrow.
